What about Grief Podcast feat. Jenna Rogers

In June, Faith’s Lodge‘s VP, Jenna Rogers, joined Larry Holm on the What about Grief? Podcast to discuss a range of topics related to grief and the support Faith’s Lodge offers to grieving parents. Jenna and Larry delved into the logistics of Faith’s Lodge and the process of choosing what is offered at retreats. Jenna highlighted how the programming at Faith’s Lodge has evolved over the years, shaped by the feedback from guests. Now, the retreat programs cater to any type of loss, offering a diverse array of activities from grief counseling to yoga, and individual time in nature. Each guest can choose the activities that best meet their needs and desires, even if that simply means enjoying alone time in a serene setting.

Jenna also shared her personal journey of grief following the death of her son, Noah. Three weeks after Noah’s passing, Jenna and her husband attended a bereaved parents retreat at Faith’s Lodge. They were able to join other parents who had lost their children to SIDS. At this retreat, Jenna and her husband found a sense of connection with other parents on similar grief journeys, helping them realize they were not alone in their feelings.

Grieving parents face many emotions and unknown obstacles after the death of a child. Each parent experiences grief differently and it changes over time. As they find ways to continue moving forward in life without leaving their child’s memory behind. Jenna’s family makes plans in advance for the anniversary of Noah’s death, choosing activities they believe Noah would have liked. This helps them face the day and cope with the emotions that come with it.

This podcast episode provides parents with the opportunity to confront the difficult reality of losing a child while also discovering hope in finding a new normal and honoring their child’s memory. Faith’s Lodge offers retreats specifically for child loss, helping grieving parents find support and connection.
