Resources for Grieving Families
While we can't include every resource for grieving parents, these trusted organizations offer a variety of services for you and your family. They are grouped under specific focuses, but these organizations can be multifaceted. If you have questions or would like to recommend an organization to be included, please contact us.
Grief Support and Groups

A haven for families who have experienced the loss of a child at any age. They provide compassionate grief support in a safe space.

Provides a safe space where grieving families can connect, share stories, and learn to rebuild their lives.

Free grief support resources to adults, young adults, teenagers and children. Programs address financial, logistical, and psychosocial aspects of grief.

Helps individuals cope with loss, supports their healing, nurtures their physical and emotional well-being, and brings hope for the future.

Offers support groups and grief and bereavement event programs intended to give comfort and support to families.

Provides highly personal grief support after a death. Nationwide chapters provide support groups in every state.

A nonprofit grief and healing organization dedicated to helping parents and families living with the loss of a child.

An international organization providing counseling, advocacy, research, and education services to families after the death of a child.

Private Facebook group that offers support and opportunities to connect with other moms who have lost a special needs child.

Pregnancy and Infant Loss

Free support groups and education for parents and grandparents. Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support groups offered twice a month.

Dedicated to honoring infant angels by helping create lasting memories and providing appropriate emotional and financial support.

Halos of the St. Croix Valley provides emotional and financial support to bereaved parents who have lost a child from miscarriage through age 20 and reside in MN or WI.

Dedicated to helping families find hope in Jesus after the death of an infant or child. Offers resources and relationships through care packages, mentoring and grief care groups.

Pregnancy Infant Loss Group led by a Perinatal Nurse Navigator. Helps connect bereaved parents to others with similar experiences.

Minnesota based organization that offers phone and in-person support to grieving, infertile and adoptive families nationwide.

A network of volunteer professional photographers who will come to your hospital or hospice location and conduct a sensitive and private portrait session.

Local organization that distributes Paige Bears to help comfort parents who experience stillborn and newborn loss throughout Minnesota.

Engages a global community of bereaved parents and their health providers to improve mental health outcomes, while advancing pregnancy/infant loss awareness and support.

A community dedicated for anyone who has experienced the death of their baby. They serve parents, grandparents, siblings, friends, as well as the professionals who care for grieving families.

Circumstances of Death

A healthcare organization dedicated to the prevention of sudden infant death. They provide nationwide support through research, education, family support.

A supportive community that inspires people to fight against congenital heart defects through education, research, and assistance to families.

"Bringing Back the Village" organization made up of African American mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters. Focus is around gun violence and domestic violence.

Designed for family members and loved ones who know a person who has died from addiction-related causes. The focus is specific to the traumatic loss and the stigma that often surrounds an addiction-related death.

Offers victim advocacy, education, and immediate and long-term grief support for family and friends affected by suicide, homicide, accidental death, or overdose.

Walks alongside families in Minnesota who are faced with losing a loved one to suicide. Provides support and resources to families through the first year after the loss and hosts a private Facebook group.
Camps & Retreats

Program of Brighter Days Grief Center and the Eluna Network. Camp Erin is a free, annual bereavement camp for children (ages 6-17) who have experienced the death of a family member or friend.

Program of Brighter Days Grief Center. Camp LIVIN is a weekend retreat for individuals or families who have experienced the death of a loved one to suicide. Held annually the 4th weekend in August in Maple Lake, MN.

Program of Healing Hearts Connection.
Free camp for every member of the family, pre-school through grandparenthood, in integrated yet separate programs. Held annually in April in Annandale, MN and November in Hudson, WI. Includes a program specific to the Emerging Adult population (18 to 24-year-olds).

Provides support groups and non-traditional holistic therapies for families grieving the death of a child.

Provides a space of healing and peace for parents who are grieving the death of their child. By bringing together those who have experienced a similar loss in a retreat setting we honor and celebrate our children while making connections with others who truly understand our journey.

Provides a peaceful location and resources for couples to take a break from the demands of everyday life so they can focus on healing and restoration.

Free Biblically based retreats, where bereaved parents form bonds and make connections with other moms and dads who truly understand the experience of child loss.
Support for Grieving Children

Provides free grief support to grieving children and adults.

Provides support in a safe place where children, teens, and families who are grieving can share their experiences before and after a death.

Offers peer-based support groups, individual and family grief counseling sessions, crisis support and education to grieving children, teens, young adults and their families.
Memorials

Volunteer group that offers hope, encouragement and fellowship through the common connection of loss. Hosts annual dedication and remembrance events at the Angel of Hope statue located at the Maple Grove, MN Arboretum.

Beautiful gardens providing a serene place in which families can visit to remember, reflect, grieve and begin healing following the loss of an infant or child. Individual memorials available at no cost to families. Located in Orono, MN.
